Lincoln, California · Workers' Compensation
Lincoln Workers' Comp Lawyer
Lincoln does not have its own Workers' Compensation Appeals Board office. California's own ZIP code locator sends a claim tied to Lincoln's ZIP code, 95648, to the Division of Workers' Compensation's Sacramento district office, though that result does not decide venue for a specific case. California law gives an injured worker 30 days to notify an employer of a job injury, and the employer's insurer generally has 90 days after a claim form is filed to accept or reject it before the injury is presumed compensable. Yazdchi Law is based in Palmdale, has no Lincoln office, and reviews each matter individually before deciding whether representation fits.

A work injury in Lincoln does not happen near a courthouse. The nearest Division of Workers' Compensation district office is in Sacramento, in a different county, and the clocks that start on the day of an injury do not pause for that drive. This guide covers the two deadlines that start right away, which DWC office actually handles a Lincoln claim, and the local resources a Placer County worker can use while a claim moves forward.
Yazdchi Law is based in Palmdale and has no office in Lincoln or elsewhere in Placer County. Call (661) 273-1780 or use the contact form to ask whether the firm can review a California workers' compensation matter. The firm looks at each matter on its own facts and never assumes representation before that review happens.

How much time do I have to report a work injury in Lincoln?
You generally have 30 days from the injury to tell your employer in writing, though your employer's own knowledge of the injury can take the place of that notice.
California Labor Code section 5400 sets a 30 day deadline for written notice to an employer. Section 5402 adds an exception. If your employer, a manager, a supervisor, or anyone else in authority already knew about the injury from any source, that knowledge can count as notice on its own. Either way, write down who you told, when, and how, since that record can matter later.
Except as provided by sections 5402 and 5403, no claim to recover compensation under this division shall be maintained unless within thirty days after the occurrence of the injury which is claimed to have caused the disability or death, there is served upon the employer notice in writing, signed by the person injured or someone in his behalf, or in case of the death of the person injured, by a dependent or someone in the dependent's behalf.
Once your employer knows about the injury, the next deadline belongs to them. Labor Code section 5401 requires the employer to send you a claim form within one working day after lost time or treatment beyond first aid is reported. Fill it out and turn it in, since that form starts the deadline covered next.
What happens after I file the workers' comp claim form?
Your employer's insurance company generally has 90 days after you file the claim form to accept or reject your claim.
Labor Code section 5402 says the injury is presumed compensable if the claim is not rejected within that 90 day window. The insurance company can only undo that presumption with evidence it finds after the 90 days end, not with evidence it could have found earlier. Mark the date you hand in or mail the claim form, since that date starts the clock.
While a claim moves forward, you may also be able to predesignate your own doctor for a future injury instead of using your employer's medical network. Our guide to predesignating a personal physician covers who qualifies and the paperwork it takes to set that up before an injury happens.
What if my claim is denied or treatment is turned down?
A denied claim and a denied treatment request are two different problems, and each one has its own next step.
If the insurance company rejects the whole claim, our guide to a denied California workers' comp claim covers what a denial letter should say and how to respond. If one treatment request gets turned down instead, see the separate treatment denial guide for that different process. Save every letter either way, since the date on it can start its own short deadline to act.

Which DWC office handles a Lincoln workers' comp claim?
The state's own ZIP code locator sends Lincoln's ZIP code to the Sacramento district office, though a hearing itself is run by the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, not decided by that locator.
We entered Lincoln's ZIP code, 95648, into the DWC ZIP code locator on October 14, 2026. The result named the Sacramento district office. That result is a useful starting point, not a ruling. Where your own case belongs depends on Labor Code section 5501.5 (where you live, where you were hurt, or where your attorney's office is), so confirm venue with the Information and Assistance Unit or a lawyer rather than the locator alone.
A hearing at that office is run by a judge of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, often called the WCAB, the state court that decides contested workers' comp cases. Not every step needs a trip to Sacramento. DWC's Virtual Courtroom Resources page says status conferences, mandatory settlement conferences, priority conferences, and lien conferences now run on a video platform, while trials and expedited hearings still happen in person. Ask the office which type of hearing you have before you plan a drive from Lincoln.
What other local resources can help while a Lincoln claim moves forward?
Pair the Sacramento DWC office with a Placer County job center if you are also missing work and need other support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the DWC ZIP code locator decide where my Lincoln case will be heard?
No. The locator only names the district office tied to a ZIP code today. It does not rule on venue for a specific injury claim. Under Labor Code section 5501.5, venue depends on where you live, where you were hurt, or where your attorney's office is. Confirm current office details through DWC, and ask a lawyer or the Information and Assistance Unit about venue for your own case.
How soon do I have to tell my employer about a work injury in Lincoln?
California law gives you 30 days from the injury to give written notice, under Labor Code section 5400. You will often not need that full window, since your employer's own knowledge of the injury, from any source, can count as notice instead under section 5402. Tell a supervisor as soon as you reasonably can either way.
What happens if the insurance company never accepts or denies my claim?
Labor Code section 5402 presumes a claimed injury compensable if it is not rejected within 90 days after you file the claim form. The insurance company can only overcome that presumption with evidence it finds after those 90 days pass. Keep your copy of the claim form and the date you turned it in.
Do I have to drive to Sacramento for every step of a Lincoln workers' comp case?
Not always. DWC's Virtual Courtroom Resources page says many conference type hearings now run on a video platform, while trials and expedited hearings stay in person. Ask the Sacramento district office which category your hearing falls into before you plan a drive from Lincoln.
Does Yazdchi Law have an office in Lincoln?
No. Yazdchi Law is based in Palmdale, with no office in Lincoln or elsewhere in Placer County. Call (661) 273-1780 or use the contact form to ask whether the firm can take on a California workers' compensation matter. Each matter gets its own review first.
Can I use my own doctor for a Lincoln work injury?
It depends on whether you predesignated a personal physician before you were hurt. Our guide to predesignating a personal physician explains who qualifies and what paperwork that takes. Without a valid predesignation, your employer's medical provider network generally chooses the treating doctor.
Where can I get free local help with job search or training while a Lincoln claim is open?
Golden Sierra Job Training Agency runs an America's Job Center of California location for Placer, El Dorado, and Alpine counties, reachable at (916) 746-7722. That center does not handle workers' compensation claims. Use the DWC Information and Assistance Unit or a lawyer for those questions instead.
