The Van Nuys district office of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) sits at 6150 Van Nuys Boulevard, Suite 105, Van Nuys, CA 91401, phone 818-901-5367, as the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) lists it. This office holds hearings and settlement conferences for California workers' compensation cases venued there, and it also houses local units that rate permanent disability and explain benefits and rights to workers. Your hearing notice names the office handling your claim. DWC's ZIP code locator can suggest an office for your address, but it does not decide venue on its own.

Which cases go to this office?

A claim lands here because of where you live, where you got hurt, or where your attorney's office sits, not because Van Nuys is the closest building on a map.

California law sets venue for a workers' compensation case in Labor Code section 5501.5. You may file where you lived on the date you filed, where the injury happened (or, for a cumulative injury, where your last harmful exposure happened), or, if you have a lawyer, in that lawyer's main-office county. An employer who objects to the attorney's-office option within 30 days sends the case back to your residence or injury county instead. DWC's ZIP code locator can suggest a likely office for an address, but it is only a convenience tool. It does not decide venue, and your hearing notice is what actually names your office.

DWC's own ZIP code listing currently ties the cities below to the Van Nuys office, running from the San Fernando Valley into the Antelope Valley:

Los Angeles is a special case here: only part of the city's ZIP codes route to Van Nuys, and the rest route instead to the Los Angeles office downtown, so a Los Angeles address should be checked individually rather than assumed. Palmdale, where Yazdchi Law P.C. keeps its only office, is itself on this list.

What happens there?

Judges hold hearings and settlement conferences here, and two DWC units work out of the same building.

Beyond the hearing calendar, DWC lists a Disability Evaluation Unit and an Information and Assistance Unit at this office. The Disability Evaluation Unit rates permanent disability from medical reports, and judges, workers, and claims administrators rely on that rating later in a case. The Information and Assistance Unit explains workers' compensation rights, benefits, and obligations to employees, employers, and other interested parties, and is often an injured worker's first DWC contact.

DWC also runs a free injured worker workshop tied to this office, though it meets over Zoom rather than inside the building. Per the DWC's posted schedule, sessions run at 3 p.m. on the first Friday of each month in English and the third Friday in Spanish, walking through how a claim moves forward.

Can you attend by video or phone?

For most conference-type hearings, yes. Trials still happen in person.

Since March 3, 2025, DWC has run status, mandatory settlement, priority, and lien conferences on its CourtCall Video Platform instead of the older telephone lines, and every judge has a virtual courtroom there. Trials, lien trials, and expedited hearings were left out of that change and still happen in person.

DWC assigns judges to this office and posts virtual courtroom links on its own site, and both can change, so this page will not print a link or number that could go stale. Check the DWC's Virtual Courtroom Resources page close to your hearing date, or see our guide to finding a judge's conference line and virtual courtroom link for what to have ready before you join.

How do you get there and park?

The building sits on Van Nuys Boulevard at Calvert Street, a short walk from the Metro Orange Line's Van Nuys station.

DWC's own directions describe a short walk north from the Orange Line's Van Nuys station, to the corner of Van Nuys Boulevard and Calvert Street. Metro bus routes also reach the area, and DWC's office page links turn-by-turn driving directions for anyone coming by car.

Parking in the building's own structure is limited, and a private lot sits next door. Metered street parking nearby caps out at two hours, though longer metered spots, up to ten hours, sit on Calvert Street just east of the building. DWC prices the state building garage at $9 a day and the Calvert Street lot at $10 a day.

What should you bring?

Bring your hearing notice, photo identification, and any documents it lists, and leave children at home.

The lobby opens 30 minutes before the morning session and stays open on court days except state holidays. Staff at the information desk can date stamp and file paperwork if you are dropping something off rather than attending a hearing. DWC also asks that children not be brought to court.

If your notice does not list what you need, call the office or DWC's Information Services Center at 1-800-736-7401.

What should you do next?

Confirm your office and hearing date from your own notice, then decide whether a California workers' compensation attorney should look at your claim.

Start with the hearing notice DWC mailed you; it names your office, hearing date, and hearing type, and it controls over anything general written here. Yazdchi Law P.C. is based solely in Palmdale and keeps no second office inside the Van Nuys building. This address is a state hearing location, not a firm office, even for the many Palmdale-area claims venued here.

See the California WCAB district office guide for every DWC hearing location in the state, including the Los Angeles office that handles the rest of the greater Los Angeles area. The firm also maintains city pages for Van Nuys and Palmdale workers' compensation claims.

Call (661) 273-1780 or use the contact form to have the firm look at your claim. Yazdchi Law P.C. reviews each matter individually before deciding whether to take it on.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the address of the Van Nuys WCAB office?

DWC lists the Van Nuys district office at 6150 Van Nuys Boulevard, Suite 105, Van Nuys, CA 91401, phone 818-901-5367. Court is in session from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on business days, and DWC's own office page has current access details.

Does the DWC ZIP code locator decide which office hears my case?

No, it only reflects how DWC currently sorts filings by ZIP code. The controlling rule is Labor Code section 5501.5, which looks at your residence county, the county where you were hurt, or your attorney's county, not a ZIP lookup. When the two disagree, the office named on your hearing notice is the one to trust.

Can I skip the drive to Van Nuys for my hearing?

Often, yes. Status, mandatory settlement, priority, and lien conferences run on DWC's CourtCall Video Platform. Trials, lien trials, and expedited hearings are the exception and still require showing up in person. Your hearing notice, or DWC's Virtual Courtroom Resources page, tells you which kind you have.

What if DWC posts a different phone number for my hearing?

DWC sometimes posts a temporary conference line and access code on an office's page when its usual video system is down. Those numbers change and are not worth saving for later. Check your hearing notice, or the office's current DWC page, close to your hearing date instead.

Is there a free workshop for injured workers at this office?

Yes, though it runs over Zoom rather than inside the building. DWC's posted schedule lists 3 p.m. sessions on the first Friday of each month in English and the third Friday in Spanish, covering how a workers' compensation claim moves forward.

Which cities does the Van Nuys office cover?

DWC's ZIP listing ties most of the San Fernando and Antelope Valleys to this office, including Burbank, Santa Clarita, Lancaster, and Palmdale. Los Angeles is split between this office and the Los Angeles office downtown, so a Los Angeles address should be checked on its own.

Does Yazdchi Law P.C. have an office near Van Nuys?

No. The firm's only office is in Palmdale, at 1125 W Avenue M-14, Suite A. It handles claims venued at the Van Nuys office, and elsewhere in California, by phone, video, and mail rather than through a branch location near the court.
